Without a doubt, the number one question we get asked is, “How in the world do you move that thing?”
Moving “Big Blue” (her nickname a la moment) is much easier than you might think. As much as we would love to tell you about an extensive system of pulleys and forklifts and ropes and lots of holding our breath, we simply cannot tell a lie!
If any of you have ever had the unfortunate experience of your car breaking down (inevitably in the middle of nowhere good) then you are familiar with a roll back truck. It is one of those incredible inventions that has the double jointed ability to slide its tow bed so far back and removed from the truck that, once it begins to pick up the container, the ENTIRE truck starts to rock and roll yet the tires inexplicably don’t pop and the driver, unlike me, doesn’t seem the least bit concerned. This miraculous piece of equipment enables the bed of this truck to literally slide underneath the container while a wench simultaneously pulls “Madame Bleue” up piggy-back style on the bed.

Once “boite bleue” is successfully loaded, the most important part of the transport process comes onto the scene. Meet the ratchet strap. Now I realize I am just a lowly shop keep and I should step back and let the professionals handle this moving process but I do pose one question to you all and that is, “Let’s assume the “Grande Dame” does begin to slide off of the truck, are those ratchet straps actually going to be of any benefit as her roughly 5000 pounds of blue glory try to disembark? Will the entire truck not go with her?”
I leave this with you to ponder as I know you all will find this the most important question you are faced with this week or possibly even this year…
