Pizza and Coca-cola

Paris in June.

With a 10 year-old.

Shopping for merchandise.

What could possibly go wrong?

In our case, absolutely nothing! Even though we never saw the sun in our nine days in Paris and the Seine was flooding (no, literally FLOODING) and we were staying in a fifth floor walkup, it was an absolutely wonderful trip and one we won’t soon forget.

The lack of sunshine negated the need for a sunscreen argument with the child each morning and the flooding Seine made for real excitement as we watched the Police Nationale zip their boats up and down the river until, it was finally so high, they could no longer fit under the bridges. What ten year-old boy wouldn’t love a real-time adventure unfolding right in front of his eyes?

Keeping up with his fitbit, the number of steps the child took was truly mind blowing! Well into the five digits each day which was before we climbed the steps in and out of our quaint apartment one block removed from Canal St. Martin where the seemingly endless “locking through” of boats provided most excellent entertainment.

There is a delicate balance with a ten year-old between 6000 miles/hour and a crash equivalent to that of the deepest fault line and let me tell you, there are two words that can thwart the inevitable meltdown that follows entirely too quickly behind the “crash”: Coke and Pizza! In case you were not aware, these are the two most important food groups.

With all of this marine activity and pizza consumption, when would we find the time to actually shop and meet new vendors? As most of you know, you only have to look ten feet in either direction in Paris to become inspired and find something gorgeous you suddenly realize you simply canNOT live without. We found treasures like crocheted vegetable toys, gorgeous market baskets, embroidered bags, purses, table linens, antique prints and more and more…

We hope you like the things we found
.
