When Dirk and I came up with the idea for Le Pop-Up, Savon de Marseille was at the top of our “must have” list and Dirk knew exactly which brand he wanted. Bleu Jaune. End of discussion. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
So off we went. It was about a two hour drive from where we were staying in Chateaunef de Grasse. After a harrowing flight on our way over, we upgraded our car from a cargo van to an Audi wagon, but that’s a story for another day. My point here is we were not riding around in an old jalopy and a road trip is what we do best. Plan d’Orgon is about two hours north of St Tropez but could not feel any further removed from the Riviera. With only a few wrong turns and a stop in a shady pool hall, we arrived to Bleu Jaune prepared to shop.

After a tour of the immaculate factory and the realization that our French was just not up to the task of making this deal, we engaged JP from Theophile Berthon directly across the parking lot to help us communicate with Mr. Najet Vallet and get this purchase wrapped up. Just under 2000 bars of soap later we were out the door and happy as larks. Not to mention, we had discovered another great vendor in Theophile Berthon!
And that is the story of the magical wine stain removing soap.
